FAQs

1. What is the difference between ScanIP & ScanIP Medical?

Simpleware ScanIP Medical has regulatory clearances including FDA 510(k) clearance, CE marking, and ISO 13485:2016 certification. It also has a number of exclusive features including PACS connectivity, import, and processing tools for DICOM 4D time series. Registration of 2D X-ray images, generation of virtual X-rays and more.

2. Can you import and process DICOM images?

Yes, you can import images in a range of formats including DICOM, DICONDE, stacks of 2D images, and volume image files.

3. Can I register more than one image dataset?

Yes, you can use our automatic or landmark registration to align multiple images (same or different modalities, e.g. MRI and CT).

4. Does ScanIP have automatic segmentation tools?

Simpleware ScanIP has a range of automatic, semi-automatic and manual segmentation tools including OTSU automatic segmentation, threshold, flood fill, local surface correction, morphological tools and more! We also have a range of anatomy-specific automatic segmentation tools – see Simpleware AS Cardio and Simpleware AS Ortho/CMF.

5. What kind of measurements can be performed in ScanIP?

You can create simple measurements through more advanced statistics. Measurements can also be made from centrelines, wall thickness, and surface deviation tools. In addition, you can use in-built or user-defined statistics templates for larger models.

6. Can you export models from ScanIP?

You can export a range of meshed models from Simpleware ScanIP, surface models can be exported as STLs, 3MF, etc. If you want to export in other formats, please see the Simpleware FE module for volume meshes, Simpleware NURBS module for NURBS models.

7. What scripting languages can ScanIP support?

Python and C# are the two main languages that are supported by Simpleware ScanIP and add-on modules.

8. How can I find examples to get me started?

Simpleware ScanIP comes with a range of in-built tutorials (including associated data), you can also contact the Simpleware Support team for more advice and help to form your workflow.
